When creating the costumes for the ensemble of Ballot, I drew inspiration from contemporary office attire, the Corporate Memphis art style, and commedia dell’arte aesthetics. Dr. Paola Aguilar and the members of the political “think tank” wore typical suits, blazers, and trousers - establishing a very contemporary office setting - in bright colors and bold prints - bringing us into a loud and sometimes overwhelming world seen from Paola’s perspective. The show also featured various supporting roles played by a single actor, whose costumes were detailed enough to communicate each character’s identity, while also uncomplicated enough to change in and out of quickly.
